Local Conservatives have selected Cllr Eleanor Cox as their City Hall Spokesperson and GLA candidate.

Eleanor Cox will hold Labour’s Sadiq Khan to account and stand up for Merton and Wandsworth residents.

Upon her selection, Cllr Eleanor Cox said:

“I would like to thank members of Merton and Wandsworth Conservatives for putting their faith in me by selecting me as their GLA candidate.

I am looking forward to working hard on the issues that matter to the residents of Merton and Wandsworth, such as tackling the increasing cost of living, reducing crime, improving public transport, providing affordable housing and opposing the ULEZ expansion.

I will build a better future for our residents by using the experiences I have gained as your local Councillor, a successful businesswoman and former elite sportswoman to fight a positive and energetic campaign that shines a spotlight on both Labour’s and Mayor Khan’s considerable failings in Merton and Wandsworth boroughs.”

Stephen Hammond, MP for Wimbledon, commented on the selection saying:

“I welcome the news that Cllr Eleanor Cox has been selected as the City Hall Conservative spokesperson for Merton and Wandsworth. I look forward to working closely with them to stand up to Sadiq Khan on behalf of Wimbledon residents”.

Cllr William Sweet, Wandsworth Conservatives Group Leader, commented on the selection saying:

“I very much look forward to working with Eleanor, who I know will champion residents' interests in Wandsworth as our City Hall spokesperson".

Cllr Nick McLean, Merton Conservatives Group Leader, commented on the selection saying:

“Cllr Eleanor Cox, will be a great champion for Merton residents and I look forward to working closely with her to hold Sadiq Khan to account”.
