We work hard in the local area to help you and we’re also responsible for holding the Labour-run Merton Council to account. We run local campaigns aimed at ensuring residents voices are heard in the town hall and in Parliament by working with the Conservative Government.
We go out into the community as much as we can, knocking on doors and talking to residents about their issues and concerns and finding out what really matters to them. We represent everybody and do our best to ensure local issues are dealt with in a timely manner.
Stephen Hammond is our MP for Wimbledon - a position he has served in for more than a decade. Stephen has run a “Vision” campaign in which he has set out some ideas for our area for sustainable development and improvements to ensure we live in a wonderful, thriving community.
You can see more on his website (www.stephenhammond.net) and hear about local campaigns we are working on together including:
- Crossrail 2 – This project could revitalise our communities, but only if it’s done properly. We have worked with Stephen at every stage to ensure residents voices are heard and listened to in the further consultation on how Crossrail 2 will impact the Wimbledon Town Centre developments as well as how it will affect Motspur Park and Raynes Park.
- Mucky Merton – Merton is mucky. The Labour-run council have failed to keep our streets clean. Merton Conservative Councillors press the council to clean-up it’s act at every opportunity and we hold regular street cleaning sessions so that our community is kept tidy.
- Step-free access - Merton’s railway stations are in desperate need of step-free access. Thanks to the work of the Merton Conservatives and Stephen Hammond Motspur Park will now be made step-free, but there’s still more work to be done. Raynes Park, Haydon’s Road and a number of others need an upgrade and we will continue fighting for them.
It is an honour to be Conservative Group Leader in Merton and campaign on issues which matter to Merton residents. With your help we can make a real difference to our borough. So, do get in touch with me and my team if we can be of any help at all or if you would like to get involved in one of our campaigns.
Best wishes,
Cllr Nick McLean - Merton Conservative Group Leader
