At a recent Merton Planning Applications Committee, the Labour majority approved an application for a 12 storey office building at St George’s House East, opposite Wimbledon Train Station. Labour Councillors, none of whom represent Wimbledon, all voted in favour.
At Wednesday's meeting of Merton Council, Conservative Councillors presented a petition signed by over a thousand residents which called on the Council to enforce the covenant which protects parkland from development by the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC).
Council recognises that ever since the Outturn report of 2017/18 the overspend on the Dedicated Schools Grant has been growing out of control and is set to reach £56 million by 2026/27.
