Merton Conservatives were busy selling poppies outside both Wimbledon station and Morden tube station during the morning rush today as part of London Poppy Day (Thursday 2 November). London Poppy Day marks the start of the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal across the capital.
As part of the national Local Democracy Week initiative to bring together elected politicians with younger generations, Conservative councillors are visiting various schools in the borough over the next few days.
The significant cost to Merton Council of the investigation into Cllr Alambritis’ conduct could potentially have been spared if only the Leader of the Council had had the decency to own up from the start (‘Probe costs council £8k’, 25 May 2017).
