PICKLEBALL PETITION
Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the USA and is catching on fast here in the UK. It combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. It is played on a badminton-sized court and a slightly modified tennis net.
A private sector group has proposed to lease the decayed and derelict tennis courts adjacent to the Hillcross car park and convert it to a Pickleball Centre. There are various advantages to the community.
1. Removal of an eyesore & provision of a sporting facility at no cost to the residents
2. Driving out of illegal activities in the Hillcross car park
3. Enable both young and not so young to participate in healthy exercise in a great environment
4. Potential introduction of the sport with coaching to local schools in the borough
