SGN and Berkeley Homes have recently submitted plans for the former Gas holders site. At up to 18 storeys, this proposal would drastically alter Motspur Park’s suburban feel. We want attractive, well-designed buildings that fit the area’s character. The scheme is far too dense, cramming too many homes onto a small site.
Rail services are already overstretched, and recent nationalisation hasn’t improved reliability. New developments must reflect that this is a suburban area, not central London.
The project is expected to take up to eight years (the actual build won’t start until 2030/31 but will take years to clear land and remove the cylinders.).
Weak Lib Dem leadership: Our Lib Dem councillors refuse to take a stand, delaying decisions until after the election. Without a proper Local Plan, they’ve left the door open for high-rise, high-density developments.
